FRANKLIN VAUGHAN - Franklin Delanor Vaughan, age 75, of Steens, MS, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Sunday, October 24, 2010, at 2:30 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Larry Montgomery officiating and J. M. Hawkins assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Lone Oak Cemetery in Steens. Visitation was Saturday, October 23, 2010, from 6:00-9:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Vaughan was born May 11, 1935, in Steens, MS, to the late Herman and Louise Bell Vaughan. He was a lifelong resident of Steens, MS, and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy. Mr. Vaughan worked as an automotive mechanic at various places for many years and was a member of the Steens Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 49 1/2 years, Ella Mae Bush Vaughan of Steens, MS, sons, Franklin Dewayne Vaughan (Ammie) of Houston, MS, and Richard Glenn Vaughan (Janice) of Poplarville, MS, daughters, Sharon Kay Hall of Steens, MS, and Melissa Carol McDaniel (Ronnie) of Columbus, MS, sisters, Herma Jean Jones, Betty Hudson (Bobby), and Haidyee Vaughan, all of Steens, MS, grandchildren, James "Trey" Hall, Lance Hall, Bryan Hall, Blake Vaughan, Gabrel Vaughan, Laura Austen, Amber Kilburn, Sarah McDaniel, Victoria McDaniel, Hillary Colbert, and Kaylee Vaughan, great grandchildren, Jessie Hall, Ella Grace Kilburn, Hannah Austen, and Logan Belk, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be James "Trey" Hall, Lance Hall, Bryan Hall, Blake Vaughan, Cary Hudson, Josh Bush, and Gabrel Vaughan. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, members of the Steens Church of Christ, and the staff of the Baptist Memorial Critical Care Unit, Emergency Room, Ambulance Drivers and Paramedics.
