Lois Stephens Reichle

Lois Stephens Reichle of Madison, MS died at age 89 on June 1, 2011 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS after a short illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated June 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in Columbus, with Father Vince Burns, celebrant. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow in Brooksville City Cemetery. Gunter and Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The daughter of the late Terrel B. Stephens and Caroline Carpenter Stephens Lucus, Mrs. Reichle was born February 7, 1922 in West Point, MS and her family later moved to Columbus, where she graduated from Stephen D. Lee High School and Mississippi State College for Women. Mrs. Reichle was married to John A. Reichle of Columbus, and they resided in Lowndes County until 2000, when they moved to Madison, Mississippi. They were faithful communicants of Annunciation Catholic Church. She was a teacher in Columbus and Lowndes County for many years and retired from the teaching profession in 1987. Mrs. Reichle was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Concordia Luncheon Club, and the St. Francis Ladies Bible Group. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years John A. Reichle, her son John A. Reichle Jr., and her sister Virginia S. Wood. She is survived by her sons Stephen Reichle of Jackson, Norfleet Reichle of Madison, her daughter, Chris Reichle Vydra of Madison, and her sisters Jeanne S. Eubanks and Betty S. Cooper, both of Madison. She also leaves six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren to honor her memory. Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries, 450 Town Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157.
