JEAN SUDDUTH - Jean Lewis Sudduth, age 78, of Columbus, MS, went to be with the her Lord on September 20, 2010, at Regency Hospital at St. Dominic in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 23, 2010, at 2:00 PM at New Covenant Baptist Church with Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. The interment will immediately follow at Piney Grove Cemetery in Steens. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 22, 2010, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Sudduth was born July 31, 1932, in West Greene, AL, to the late Warren H. and Virginia Green Lewis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack B. Lewis and his wife Bobbie, and brother Warren H. Lewis, Jr. She began her banking career in 1951 as a bookkeeper and retired as Assistant Vice President and Head of Bookkeeping after 43 years of serive at Trustmark National Bank. Mrs. Sudduth was a member of New Covenant Baptist Church. Survivors include her beloved husband of 57 years, M. D. Sudduth of Columbus, brothers, Frank A. (Kathy) Lewis of Harrison, TN, and Frederick O. (Mimi) Lewis of Houston, TX, and sister-in-law, Linda Lewis of Richland, MS. Having no children of her own, she especially loved all her nieces and nephews and their families. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Pallbearers will be Curtis Younger, Tom Younger, Lee Younger, Tom Green, Buddy Thrasher, and William Heywood.
