HELEN DAVIS - Miss Helen Davis, age 92, of Columbus, MS, died October 25, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 3:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Dr. Sam Morris officiating & Rev. Ron McDougald assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will also be Tuesday, October 27, 2009, one hour prior to the service at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Miss Davis was born September 24, 1917, in Lowndes County, MS to the late William L. and Maggie Elizabeth Sharp Davis, Sr. She was a graduate of Caledonia High School and worked as a buyer at Eggers Department Store before moving to Florence, AL where she spent 20 years at Rogers Department Store. Miss Davis retired in 1982 and moved back to Columbus where she was an active member of First United Methodist Church. At First Methodist, she served as an adult home visitor and was a member of Keenagers and the Emma Bell Bible Class. Survivors include her brother, William L. Davis, Jr. of Columbus, MS, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be William Davis, III, Eric Smith, Jerry Rodgers, Bill Andrews, Brandon Rodgers, Andy Andrews and Elliot Andrews. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church P.O.
