Emma Gene Stuckenschneider, age 89 of Birmingham, AL, and formerly of Columbus, MS, died February 20, 2013, at Mount Royal Towers retirement community, exactly four years to the day of the passing of her husband of 60 plus years, James T. Stuckenschneider. Graveside services will be Friday, February 22, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Friendship Cemetery, with Rev. Gary Edge officiating. The daughter of the late Andrew Grover Gainey, Sr. and Emma Joyner Gainey, she was born March 2, 1923. A graduate of Millsaps College, she was a long-time educator in schools in Memphis and Chattanooga, TN and Atlanta, GA. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers John Lee Gainey, Glover Joyner Gainey, and Andrew Grover Gainey, Jr. and her sisters Ruth Branscome and Marguerite McMillian. Mrs. Stuckenschneider is survived by her daughter, Cornelia Westenberger (John), Spring Hill, TN and son Ted Stuckenschneider (Dana), Birmingham, AL, granddaughter Michelle Carrico; great-granddaughter Hope Carrico; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Stuckenschneider Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church of Columbus will be honorary pallbearers.
