Katie M. (Ray) Rector of Columbus, MS died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus, MS. Katie was born September 23, 1932 in Sturgis, MS. She was a retired employee of Auora Nursing Home and a member of East End Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Gunter & Peel Chapel in Columbus, MS, Tuesday, June 24 10:00-11:00 AM with services at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Asbury Methodist Church, Fern Bank, AL. Mrs. Rector was pre-deceased by her first husband James Thomas Reed of Starkville, MS and her second husband Selvin Rector of Columbus, MS, her parents (J. D. and Claudie Ray of Sturgis), one sister Jeaneth Eudean Ray and two brothers Howard and Ranney Ray. She is survived by her step children Stan Rector (Lisa) of Columbus, MS, Gwen Gaston (Robert) of Memphis, TN, two grand children Hayes and Amber, sisters Mildred Gray of Columbus, MS, Mae Brewer (Carl) of Starkville, MS, Mack Price (Jay) of Columbus, MS, Shirley Haliburton of Dresden, TN, Syble Laymons (Richard) of McCalla, AL, Alice Wickwire of Omaha, NE ,brothers Jim Ray (Bobbie), Aubrey Ray (Claudette), Jerry Ray (Peggy) of Sturgis, MS and host of nephews, nieces and friends. Pallbearers will be David Gray, Gary Hartness, Dennis Brewer, Stan Rector, Gerald Scarbrough, Vance Ray, Dudley Ray, and Terry Cline. Katie will be remembered for her strong faith and belief in our Lord Jesus Christ.
