Ruth S. Lee, 84, died August 20, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 6 PM at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Ms. Lee was born December 1, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio. She was an active member of the Frank P. YMCA, where she enjoyed Zumba Gold, swimaerobics, walking on the treadmill and stretch class. She was also a member of Keenagers at First United Methodist Church. She spent countless hours at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library where she supported Friends of the Library. She was retired from United Technologies. Ms. Lee was a member of Shuqualak Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School many years ago.She loved crossword puzzles, Scrabble, reading, plants, and helping others with their income taxes. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dannie C. Johnson. She is survived by one son, Steve R.(Joni) Davis of Metaire, LA and one daughter, Chris C. Johnson of Caledonia, MS. Additionally she is survived by her grandchildren: Jason(Mandy) Clark of Columbus, MS, Leah Johnson Woodard(Jayson), Dannie J.(Heather) Johnson of Caledonia, MS., and Scott and Brian Davis of Metaire, LA. She was also survived by eight great grandchildren: Ellis and Lindsey Ruth Clark of Columbus, MS; Luke, Olivia, and Lily Woodard, Tyler Cuevas, Daniel and Kaleb Johnson of Caledonia, MS.
