MARY CHANDLER - Mary Raines Chandler, age 80, of Columbus, MS died September 6, 2009 at Aurora Australis Lodge. A memorial service will be held at a later time with Gunter & Peel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Chandler was born March 15, 1929 in Lowndes County, MS to the late Clarence and Lena Mae Swords Raines. She worked for many years as a waitress at various restaurants including the Coffee Cup and Bobs Place. Mrs. Chandler was a Baptist and was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Clyde Chandler. Survivors include her sons, Clarence Chandler and Henry Chandler, both of Columbus, daughter, Mary Jane Raines of Columbus, brothers, Larry Raines of Crenshaw, MS, Bobby Raines of Conway, AR, and W. C. Raines of Ft. Smith, AR, sisters, Lora Davis of West Point, MS, and Geraldine Arnold of Ridgeland, MS, 4 grandchildren and a number of neices and nephews.
