Madia Boyd Curtis, age 91, of Columbus, MS, passed away June 12, 2014, at Windsor Place. Graveside services will be Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hamilton, MS, with Charles Curtis officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, June 14, 2014, from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Curtis was born April 27, 1923, in Hamilton, MS, to the late Raymond and Eleanor Corinne Dahlem Boyd. She worked at Seminole Manufacturing and as a cosmetologist for many years. Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Columbus Church of Christ and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Walton Orwood Willis, Jack Lindsey, Winfred King, and Alta Curtis, and sister, Lois Boyd Gerhardt. Survivors include her son, Walton O. Willis and his wife Brenda of Caledonia, MS, grandchildren, Bettsy Ellis of Caledonia, MS, and Jacque Furnari and her husband Mat of Caledonia, MS, brother, Raymond Boyd and his wife Jewell of Hamilton, MS, great grandchildren, Leon Ellis, IV, Haley Ellis, Mark Furnari, and Jack Furnari, step children, Charles Curtis and his wife Dot of Corinth, MS, Rachel Alsup and her husband Don of Macon, MS, George Curtis and his wife Brenda of Knoxville, TN, and Dr. David Curtis and his wife Lynn of Columbus, MS, and many step grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mat Furnari, Mark Furnari, IV Ellis, Randy Boyd, Curt Alsup, Kenneth Betts, Tommy Johnson, and Derek Lowery. Honorary pallbeaers will be caregivers, Marie Williams, Velma Williams, Cynthia Cribbs, Patrice Washington, and Tracy Fort, neighbor and special friend, Elaine Simon, Roy King, Tom Waller, Clay Shepherd, Mark Griffin, Lee Younger, Haze Alsup, and Dr. Brett Brown. The family would like to thank the staffs of Gentiva Hospice and Windsor Place for their special care.
