MARY ANN EBERSOLE - Miss Mary Ann Ebersole, age 85, passed away quietly in her family home surrounded by friends and loved ones on September 9, 2009. Born on March 27, 1924, in West Point, MS, she was the daughter of the late Jesse C. and Cathine S. Ebersole and with her family moved from time to time following the Columbus and Greenville Railroad where her father was an engineer. At the age of twenty five, she, her parents and brothers moved into their new home where she spent the remainder of her life. She retired after thirty seven years of service with Sears. An avid gardener and extensive traveler, her door was always open to her friends where one would immediately feel welcomed and comfortable. Mary Ann was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September of 2008 and miraculously lived a near painless life of one year keeping her caring and great sense of humor up until her death. As a baptized beleiver in Jesus Christ, she is now asleep in his arms. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers J. C. Ebersole and James (Bud) Ebersole, she is survived by her niece Brenda Ebersole Hartley and two great nephews Jason and John Ebersole all of Jacksonville, FL, sister-in-law Ruth P. Ebersole and her nephew and niece by choice Michael and Judy Smith of Columbus. Funeral services are to be at Gunter & Peel Chapel at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 11, 2009 with visitation one hour prior to the service. Mr. Billy Ferguson will be officiating and Michael Smith assisting. Pallbearers will be Harley Linley, Shelley Woods, Howell Austin, Mark A. Smith, Jonathan Smith of Nashville, TN, J. T. Lancaster and Chris Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the S. D. Lee High Class of '42 and the Class of '45 Luncheon Club.
