Ms. Alwilda Bryant passed from this earthly home to her heavenly home June 14, 2012, while a resident at Aurora Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Columbus, Ms. Ms. Alwilda was born Sept 14, 1940 in Millport, Al to the late Elna Mae Johnson and William Walter Bryant of Caledonia. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Tipton and Emma Johnson of Vernon, Al., and David and Eppie Bryant of Caledonia/Steens, Ms . Ms. Alwilda spent most of her life in the Caledonia area as a homemaker and child care provider and was an avid gardener. She was a member of the Caledonia Church of Christ where she was a preschool teacher for many years with her sister Juanita. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy where she served as Historian. Alwilda was a member of AARP, Triad and RSVP, Caledonia Young at Heart and sang with the Ladies Confederate chorus. Her faith and her love of God was always her strongest points ,and her love of gardening she shared with all who knew her. A kind heart and gentle soul, she will be missed by all who knew her. Ms. Bryant is survived by two sisters, Emma Bryant Allen of Middleton, TN, and Juanita Bryant, of Caledonia and one brother William Bill Bryant (Barbara) of Columbus Ms, many nieces, nephews, and cousins and lots of family and friends. There will be a Memorial service at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home June 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Shane Meredith of Winona, MS officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Caledonia Church of Christ, 900 Main Street, Caledonia, MS 39740 or to Aurora Health & Rehabilitation, 310 Emerald Dr., Columbus, MS 39702.
