Clovis Edward "Snood" Bishop, age 78, of Columbus, MS, passed away December 31, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Monday, January 3, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Ralph Windle officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery with masonic graveside rites. Visitation will be Sunday, January 2, 2011, from 6:00-9:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Bishop was born October 15, 1932, in Shannon, MS, to the late Melvin Franklin and Mary Ann Harmon Bishop. He retired as owner and operator of Bishop's Body Shop after 45 years. Mr. Bishop was a past master of the Columbus Masonic Lodge #5 and a past master of the Walter W. Kemble Masonic Lodge #32 of Aberdeen, MS. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church since 1958 and was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Burns Bishop, and brothers, Horrace and Mannie Bishop. Survivors include his sons, Clifton E. Bishop of Columbus, MS, and Johnny Franklin Bishop of Columbus, MS, daughter, Mary Jane Bishop of Columbus, brother, Donald Ray Bishop of Caledonia, MS, sister, Mary Bishop Palmer of Steens, MS, 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be members of the West Point Masonic Lodge. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Bishop, Jr., Norman Bishop, Joseph Adam Bishop, Clifton Bishop, Jr., Kevin Bishop, Tommy Deason, Tommy Black, and Sjhon Elliott.
