ROY THOMPSON Roy E. Thompson, Jr., age 72, of Columbus, MS, passed away May 2, 2012, at his residence. A memorial service will be Monday, May 7, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating. A graveside committal will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, May 6, 2012, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Thompson was born March 19, 1940, in Aliceville, AL, to the late Roy E. and Evelyn Marie Marlowe Thompson, Sr. He was a retired manager from the Army & Air Force Exchange Service after 34 years, 28 of those years spent in the Washington DC Metro area at various army & air force bases. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sue Thompson. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Sue Crum Thompson of Columbus, MS, son, Michael Edwin Thompson of Clinton, MD, daughter, Deborah Ann Thomas and her husband John of Ashburn, VA, sisters, Barbara Ann Tilley of Oakland, AR, and Nancy Marie Peters of Camarillo, CA, and grandchildren, Jason M. Heath of Woodbridge, VA, and Max Edwin Thompson of Gaithersburg, MD. Memorials may be made to the Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS, 39703, or the American Heart Association, P.O.
