H. L. BAILEY, III - Horatio Leavitt "H. L." Bailey, III age 79, of Pensacola, FL, died July 1, 2010, in Pensacola, FL. Graveside services will be Monday, July 5, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will also be Monday, July 5, 2010, from 9:30 until the time of the service at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Bailey was born November 16, 1930, in Columbus, MS, to the late H. L. and Katherine Morris Bailey, II. He received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Marine Corps in 1950 and then went on the be an air traffic controller with the Federal Avaiation Administration and retired in April of 1982 after 21 years of service. He then worked another 15 years as a house framer and loved racing stock cars, golfing, traveling, and e-mailing family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher "Chris" Leavitt Bailey, and a sister, Katherine Elizabeth Shepherd. H. L. will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviviors include his wife of 57 years, Margie Goodman Bailey, daughters, Karen (Blair) Copeland of Jacksonville, FL, Marcia Bailey of Pensacola, FL, and Lisa (Terry) Todd of Palmetto, GA, grandchildren, Shannon (John) Crescenzi, Logan Patterson, Joshua Bailey, Corbin Elison, Kimberly Todd, and Elizabeth (John) Lavender, great grandchildren, Taylor and Madison McLain, and Noah Lavender, brother, Fred (Glenda) Bailey of Burleson, TX, and many other loving relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Brent Baptist Church Building Fund or the donor's favorite charity.
