MILDRED MATSON - Mildred Alberta Zimmer Matson, age 92, of Columbus, MS, passed away November 2, 2010, at her residence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at 10:00 AM at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Kober officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The visitation will be Monday, November 8, 2010, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Matson was born February 11, 1918, in Endicott, WA, to the late Albert and Paula Bergt Zimmer. She was a member of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Matson was a loving and devoted wife and mother and she was preceded in death by he husband, Dr. Sigfred Matson. Survivors include sons, Sigfred William (Nancy) Matson, of Daytona Beach, FL, and Paul (Patricia) Matson, of Austin, TX, daughters, Marie Taylor, of Greenwood, MS, Lois (Gene) Boggess, of Columbus, MS, Carol (Bill) Vargason, of Vestal, NY, and Sharon Matson, of Columbus, MS, a brother, Ralph Zimmer, of Homosassa, FL, a sister, Ada Babb, of Stockwell, IN, 13 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
