STEENS - Louis Donald Conn, 76, passed away April 11, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral services are Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Gunter & Peel Chapel with the Rev. Mickey Dalrymple officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, April 13, 2012, from 5- 8 p.m.at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at Steens Civic Center following burial. Mr. Conn was born July 20, 1935, in Pickens County, AL, to the late William Russell and Lura Cline Conn. He was a veteran of the Mississippi National Guard and the U.S. Army. He was president of the Steens Civic Center and was employed with Conn Construction. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Gary Louis Conn; and brothers, Russell Conn, James Conn and Willard Conn. Survivors include his wife, Jean Harper Conn of Steens; sons, Donald Conn of Caledonia and Stewart (Lorri) Conn of Mechanicsburg, IL; daughters, Barbara (Charles) Patterson of Columbus, Lawanda (Stephen) Walls of Ellis Grove, IL and Robbie Conn Mason of Sherman, IL; brothers, Jack (Betty) Conn of Ethelsville, AL, Ted (Faye) Conn and Barney (Karen) Conn, both of Columbus; sisters, Mary Shepherd of Steens, Virginia Humphries and Bobbie (Bert) Chain, both of Columbus, and Betty (James) Clardy of Millport, AL; grandchildren, Robert (Heather) Conn of Independence, LA, Connie Giles and Kenneth Conn, both of Caledonia, Donald (Amanda) Conn Jr. of Arapahoe, NE, Richard (Brittany) Conn of Springfield, IL, Christopher Conn of Steens, Carol (Jay) Talley of Columbus, Tina Marshall of Greensburg, IN, Darrell Walls of Fort Lewis, WA, Dane (Kelly) Walls of Ellis Grove, IL, Kristen Walls of Grayville, IL, Courtni Conn of Mechanicsburg, IL, Jeff Conn of Springfield, IL, Tonya Turner of Lincoln, IL, Justin Mason of Middletown, IL and Katelynn Mason of Sherman, IL; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are David Ashmore, Buddy Hayes, Charles Shot Bolton, Otis Sumford and employees of Conn Construction.
