Gracia Austeen McNeese Smith, age 98, of Steens, MS, passed away December 1, 2013, at Generations of Vernon. Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Ebenezer Cemetery in Lamar County, AL, with Dale McNeese officiating. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Smith was born January 17, 1915, in Lamar County, AL, to the late Will and Irene Rector McNeese. She was retired from Seminole Manufacturing and was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Elford Smith, daughter, Sylvia Murrah, and brothers, Rabon McNeese and Mervin McNeese. Survivors include her son, Daniel M. Smith and his wife Kathi of Steens, MS, daughter, Mary Alice Smith, sister, Annie Will Fowler of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Daniel Smith and his wife April, Andrew Latham, Christopher Latham and his wife Megan, Allen Brittle, and Amy Taft, and great grandchildren, Emily Smith, Mason Smith, Bain Morris, McKenzie Pate, Khloe Latham, and Tyler Taft. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
