Ida Ellen Yelverton Roberts, age 82, of Columbus, MS, passed away May 9, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 12, 2013,at 3:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Charles Mullins officiating and Rev. Jearl Hunley assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, May 11, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Roberts was born September 13, 1930, in Fremont, NC, to the late Robert and Mamie Lee Yelverton. She served in the United States Air Force and attended Draughons Business College of Willmington, DE. Mrs. Roberts retired from the Social Security Administration Office of Columbus after many years and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Thomas T. Roberts of Columbus, MS, and her son, Van T. Roberts of Columbus, MS. Pallbearers will be Mike McGill, Ben Thomas, Gary Barnett, Bob Boland, Sidney Thompson, and Larry Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be the past and present staff of the Social Security Administration Office of Columbus.
