NETTIE DOBBS - Nettie Oswalt Dobbs, age 90, of Columbus, MS, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Trinity Healthcare. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Tommy Gillon officiating. The interment will follow at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS, at 3:30 PM Saturday. Visitation will also be Saturday, November 6, 2010, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Dobbs was born March 10, 1920, in Mathiston, MS, to the late William J. and Lula Clardy Oswalt. She was a graduate of Sherwood High School in Oktibbeha County, MS, and was a charter member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Dobbs was an accomplished writer and enjoyed writing memoirs about family and country living. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Silas "S. M." Dobbs, and her daughter, Julia Nannette Dobbs. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Dupler and her husband Will of Columbus, MS, grandson, Dusty Dupler and his wife, Michelle of Columbus, MS, and great grandson, David Wesley Dupler of Columbus, MS. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
