MELBA J. BEAMAN - Melba J. Beaman, age 72, of Columbus, MS, died June 17, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Lammons officiating and Gunter & Peel Funeral Home directing. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Visitation will be Saturday, June 19, 2010, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Beaman was born February 3, 1938, in Joiner, AR, to the late James Oscar and Nancy Purner Jones. She was a graduate of Osceola High School and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Beaman loved her grandchildren and all children. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, and was a member of the Red Hat Society and Garden Club. Survivors include her husband, Danny Beaman, sons, Eddie B. Perry, Jr. of Maui, HI, and Christopher A. Perry of Montgomery, AL, daughters, Ramona Plymon of Birmingham, AL, Pamela L. Perry of Modesto, CA, Kimberly Overberg of Chattanooga, TN, and Sheri Kiernan of Arlington, TX, sister Jewel Thompson of Memphis, TN, and grandchildren, Taylor & Lyndsey Plymon, Erik Overberg, Rachel Kiernan, Jack Kiernan, Kailee Perry, Kalani Perry, Ruby Marchy, and Wyatt Perry. Pallbearers will be familymembers and men of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund 1791 Lake Lowndes Rd. Columbus, MS 39702.
