Emily Elizabeth Swanner, age 23, of Columbus, MS, passed away January 25, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be Friday, January 27, 2012, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Glen Miller officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, 2012, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Emily was born March 7, 1988, in Columbus, MS, to Walter Swanner and Becky Cunningham. She was a graduate of Victory Christian Academy. Emily loved animals and enjoyed riding horses. She also enjoyed music, playing the guitar, and was a talented artist. Survivors include her father, Walter Swanner of Sandhill, MS, mother, Becky Cunningham and her husband William C. "Bill" Cunningham of Columbus, MS, paternal grandparents, Walter and Kay Swanner of Sandhill, MS, maternal grandmother, Virginia Boyd Bonner of Columbus, MS, long time boyfriend, Kevin Black of Sturgis, MS, aunts and uncles, Terre and Tee Pittman, Craddock Boyd, Ronny Hatcher, Vanesssa Milner, Cindy Paxton, and Scott Swanner, and numerous cousins. Pallbearers will be Bubba Comer, Coby Pittman, Camp Pittman, Key Pittman, and other family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Columbus Lowndes Humane Society, P.O. Box 85, Columbus, MS, 39703.
