LOUISE D. REED Louise D. Reed age 86 died Friday, April 16, 2010 at Homeplace Assisted Living of Columbus. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m.Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Corinth National Cemetery. Mrs. Reed was born on Monday, December 10, 1923 in Gresham, WI to the late Frank and Jennie Little Dahse. Mrs Reed enlisted in the Women's Army Corp in January 1944 as a stenographer and achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant in the regular Army prior leaving the Army in 1951. During that time, she served in assignments that included Vienna, Austria and the Army Chief of Staff's office in the Pentagon. After a short time as a civilian employee in the Army's Legislative Liaison Office, Louise resigned her career to concentrate on raising her family with H A Reed, originally from West, Mississippi. Raising their four small children became a special challenge when H A died in January 1963. Mrs Reed was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Columbus for many years where she taught Sunday School and was an active volunteer in the congregation's Braille Books production project. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her younger brother Buddy Dahse of Oak Creek Wisconsin. She is survived by: her two daughters; Donna Wardlaw and Becki Adair; her two sons Dennis and William Reed; her sister Margaret Figie of West Allis Wisconsin; her brother Francis Dahse of Gresham Wisconsin; 10 grand children and 8 great-grand children.
