JOHN HAYES John Howard Hayes, age 78, of Crawford, MS, passed away March 3, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home with Billy Wayne Whatley officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Funeral services will now be shared with his wife, Shirley Burchfield Hayes, who passed away March 6, 2013. Mr. Hayes was born May 16, 1934, in Lowndes County, MS, to the late Clyde and Rachel Dickens Hayes. He was a graduate of Lee High School and served four years in the United States Navy. Mr. Hayes farmed all of his life and also retired from Sanders Oil Company. He was a member of the East Columbus Church of Christ. Survivors include his daughters, Anita Ming of Columbus, MS, Diane Jones of Tupelo, MS, and Lisa Moore of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Daryl Ming, Jamie Lowery, Dusty Ming, Jennifer Ming, Jessica Street, Terence Moore, Christopher Moore, Summer Fields, and Chase Fields, nine great grandchildren, brother, Leon Hayes of Brandon, MS, and sisters, Ann Sledge of Columbus, MS, Sarah Richardson of Columbus, MS, Joyce Allen of Southaven, MS, and Pearl Mize of Amory, MS. Pallbearers will be Daryl Ming, Dusy Ming, Terence Moore, Christopher Moore, and Ben Lowery.
