JAMES LAWSON James R. Lawson, age 83, of Columbus, MS, passed away December 13, 2011, at Windsor Place. Graveside services will be Friday, December 16, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Nick Cannady officiating. The visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2011, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Lawson was born August 4, 1928, in Vernon, AL, to the late Rob and Mary Frances Lawson. He moved to Columbus at an early age and has been a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. Mr. Lawson worked for many years as a painter. Survivors include his sister, Loventrice Swindol of Montevallo, AL, and a host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
