BERRY MORDECAI - Berry D. Mordecai, age 72, of Steens, MS died October 5, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Adrian Sanders officiating and Elder James Howard assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Lone Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 6, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Mordecai was born April 10, 1937 in Fayette County, AL to the late John Thomas and Margie Campbell Mordecai. He attended the Lone Oak Chuch of Christ and was retired after 28 years from Kerr McGee as a crane operator. Mr. Mordecai loved Alabama Football, racing, and loved to help others. Survivors include his wife, Ann Logan Mordecai of Steens, daughters, Doris Denney of Caledonia and Donna Pugh of Steens, brother, Flay Mordecai of Caledonia, sisters, Hazel Axmacher of Caledonia, Faye Stripling of Kennedy, AL, and Martha Perry of Houston, TX, grandsons, Chris Denney, Eric Denney, Tyler Pugh, Cody Pugh, and Dalton Pugh, and great granddaughters, McKenzie and Ashley Denney. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Mordecai, Laymon Alexander, and the men of Lone Oak Church of Christ.
