ANITA JUNKIN - Anita Elizabeth Johnson Junkin, age 82, of Caledonia, MS, died October 13, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Funeral services will Friday, October 16, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating and Rev. Gene Gillis assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will also be Friday, October 16, 2009 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Junkin was born June 29, 1927 in Gordo, AL to the late James Dolphus and Lillie Margaret Williams Johnson. Mrs. Junkin was owner and operator of Junkins Grocery for many years and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Gilbert Junkin, son, Johnnie Gilbert Junkin, Jr., and brothers, William H. Johnson and Hubert Samuel Johnson. Survivors include her daughter, Jackie McDaniel (Ted) of Caledonia, brother, James Dolphus Johnson, Jr. of Fairhope, AL, sister, Geneva Ann Nichols of Northport, AL, grandchildren, David "D. J." Pitts of Caledonia, Jared Pitts of Caledonia, Jason Junkin (Jenny) of Tallahassee, FL, and Jennifer Junkin Henry (Chad) of West Monroe, LA, step grandchildren, Amy Burke of Caledonia, Byron McDaniel (Brooke) of Caledonia, John Crowley of Tupelo, MS, and LeAnn Cooksey of Starkville, MS, and 12 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be D. J. Pitts, Byron McDaniel, Jason Junkin, Jimmy Johnson, Myron Atkins, David Newman, and John Crowley. Honorary pallbearers will be Herbert Junkin, Randolf Brown, Clyde Sansing, Bobby Ray, James Glenn, Tom Younger, friends of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Staff of Windsor Place.
