CHARLES JOHNSON Charles Lee Johnson, age 64, of Columbus, MS, passed away August 10, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be Saturday, August 13, 2011, at 10:30 AM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Columbus with Elder Wade Ward officiating. Visitation will also be Saturday, August 13, 2011, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson was born March 19, 1947, in Columbus, MS, to Iva Nell Ussery Johnson of Columbus, MS, and the late Mike Johnson. He was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County and 1967 graduate of Caledonia High School. He was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the United States Army. Mr. Johnson worked a number of years at Sanderson Plumbing and retired from Baldor Electric Company. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his mother, survivors include his sisters, Shirley Johnson and Florence Stokes of Columbus, MS, several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS, 39213.
