LEONARD "CORKY" KUHN Retired Lt. Col. USAF Leonard W. "Corky" Kuhn, age 92, of Columbus, MS, passed away March 9, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside services are Friday, March 11, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery with full military honors. Rev. Tony Proctor will officiate with Gunter & Peel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will also be Friday, March 11, 2011, from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Kuhn was born October 4, 1918, in Clintonville, WI, to the late George G. and Ida Roloff Kuhn. Ret. Lt. Col. Kuhn served 6 years in the United States Air Force and 14 years in the active reserve. He also retired from the family owned business, Columbus Beauty & Barber Supply Company after 27 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and attended the Stuckenschneider Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Pennington Kuhn, daughter, Kam K. Clark, brothers, Carly, Albert, and Kenneth Kuhn, sisters, Berneice Hammermeister and Doris K. Schmidt. Survivors include granddaughter, Paige A. (Terry) Bishop of Caledonia, MS, great granddaughter, Tiffany N. (Josh) Welch of Caledonia, MS, sisters-in-law, Nancy (Ray) Timm, Betty Pennington, and Evelyn Miller. The Columbus Air Force Base Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard "Poogie" Laws, Shawn Dyson, John Laws, Jr., Gary Rogers, Jimmy Wilder, Mike Miller, Ray Timm, Kim Johnson, Bill Laws, Buddy Dyson, Lloyd Vaughn, Billy Webb, and the Stuckenschneider Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church.
