John Hamiter Clark, age 60, of Steens, MS, passed away at his residence on July 22, 2010. Funeral services will be Monday, July 26, 2010, at 10:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Don Harding officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery near Millport, AL. Visitation will be Sunday, July 25, 2010, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. A native and life long resident of Columbus, John was a 1968 graduate of New Hope High School. He was a retired insurance representative with John Hancock and a long time member of the Lowndes County School Board. John was a member of Kolola Springs Baptist Church and a former deacon of First Baptist Church of Steens. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Bob Clark, brother, Bobby Clark and step-father, Keith Barksdale. Survivors include his wife, Dottie Underwood Clark, sons, Kevin Clark and his wife Angie and Brian Clark and his wife Amy, all of Steens, MS, mother, Ann Clark Barksdale of Columbus, MS, brothers, Charlie Clark and his wife Cheryl of Columbus, MS, and Bill Clark and his wife Gina of Madison, MS, and grandchildren, Sarah and Landon Clark of Steens, MS.
