Wynell Kimbrell Aldridge, age 85, of Caledonia, MS, passed away December 29, 2011, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 1, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Mel Howton officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will be Sunday, January 1, 2012, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Aldridge was born August 10, 1926, in Berry, AL, to the late John Tillman and Minnie Lee Allred Kimbrell. She worked for a number of years as a hostess at the Gilmer Hotel and retired as owner and operator of Aldridge Grocery Store. Mrs. Aldridge was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, and in recent years attended Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church. She was known as the "Hat Lady" and enjoyed flowers and gardening. Mrs. Aldridge also enjoyed Decoration Day each year at Bethabara Baptist Church in Berry, AL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Calvin Aldridge, brothers, Milford and Preston Kimbrell, and sisters Mae Drees, Louise Goyne, and Lorene Hyde. Survivors include brothers, Garland Kimbrell and his wife Ethel of Aiken, SC, and William Kimbrell and his wife Lois of Birmingham, AL, numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her pet dog, Lucky. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice, P.O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS, 38803.
