Jack Gunter, age 95, of Brandon, MS, fomerly of Columbus, MS, passed away August 30, 2011, at his home at the Barnett Reservoir in Rankin County, MS. Funeral services will be Friday, September 2, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will also be Friday, September 2, 2011, from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Gunter was born October 19, 1915, near Reform, AL, to the late Floyd N. and Bessie Hodo Gunter. He was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant serving his country for 28 years and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and a NATO assignment in Turkey. After retiring from the U. S. Air Force, he worked 11 years for the Mississippi State Board of Health. Mr. Gunter was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Masonic Lodge #5. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ailene Ritter Gunter, three sisters, and one brother. He is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Virginia Williams Gunter of Brandon, MS, sons, Jackie T. Gunter and his wife Martha of Greenville, MS, C. Phillip Gunter and his wife Ann of Brandon, MS, daughter, Annelle G. Hochhauser of Germantown, TN, 8 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 24 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tommy Gunter, Matthew Gunter, Michael Hinton, Beau Hochhauser, Scott Williams, and Jim Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy McDaniel, Dan Cox, Bobby Richardson, Bennie Edwards, and Jacky Tripplet. Memorials may be made to the Palmer Home for Children, P.O.
