BOYD PATE - Boyd Wayne Pate, age 69, of Columbus, MS died October 15, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 1:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Gene Gillis officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will also be Saturday, October 17, 2009, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Pate was born January 20, 1940 in Cedar Bluff, MS to the late Boyd & Grace Williams Pate. He was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and served in the U. S. Navy from 1959 thru 1963. He retired from Lowndes County, prior to working for Lowndes County he worked for Daniels Construction and Mitchell Engineering. He was an avid sportsman and was a member of the State Line Hunting Club in Alabama. Mr. Pate was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Connie Long Pate and his brother Larry Williams Pate. Mr. Pate is survived by his sisters, Sandra Corey of Plano, TX; and Dr. Maxie Kohler (Emmett) of Birmingham, AL; brother, Donnie Pate (Marcia) of Mandeville, LA; nieces and nephews; Kathy Corey, Jeff Corey, Missia Kohler, Kristen Ramirez, Stephen Pate and Lindsey Pate. Pallbearers will be Glenn Pate, Joe Lee Pate, Roy Lee Pate, Andy Williams, Gill Williams, Jeff Corey, Guy Weldon and Tommy Vickers. Honorary Pallbeaers will be Doug Collums and Robert Corey.
