Riggie G. Dove, age 66, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Healthcare " Golden Triangle in Columbus from an aggressive, but short battle with lung cancer. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, June 22, 2013 beginning at 1:00 PM at Gunter & Peel. The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Gunter & Peel Funeral Home with Rev. Don Harding, officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Mt. Vernon Church Cemetery. The son of the late Will D. Dove and Joanne Potter Dove, Riggie was born March 6, 1947 in Columbus. He attended Caledonia High School, enlisted in the U.S. Army in August, 1967 and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam as a gunner in an Artillery Battery. He received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of SGT in August, 1973. A roofing contractor, he was the owner of Riggie Dove Roofing for many years and was a member of Mt. Vernon Church. He was also a member of American Legion Post #69 and the Vietnam Veterans of America. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister Pamela Dove Moss and his wife of 21 years Ann Hargrove Dove, who died in 1992. He is survived by his mother Joanne Potter Dove, his son and daughter-in-law Allen and Jessie Dove of Webster, FL and daughter and son-in-law Gena and Chad Dehner of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by his brother Clay Dove of Dallas, TX and his sister Scarlett Dove of Columbus, Pallbearers will be Spurgeon Moss, Spurgeon Moss, Jr., Ron Moss, Al Lawton, Jordan Payne and David Dove. Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Dove, The T.A. Caldwell family, Dudley and Angie Reeves, the Randy Broome family, members of American Legion Post #69 and Vietnam Veterans of America, Baptist Memorial Hospice and nurses and staff of 3rd Floor, Baptist Memorial Healthcare.
