PAUL WHALEY Lester Paul Whaley, age 69, of Columbus, MS, went to be with his Heavenly Father August 3, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his wife and family. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 6, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Murrah's Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. David Coleman officiating and Bro. Tommy Whaley assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Murrah's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 5, 2011, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Paul was born June 2, 1942, in Caledonia, MS, to the late Lem and Dellie Mae Whaley. He was a member of Murrah's Chapel Baptist Church where he served on the usher board and helped his wife in the nursery. He was retired from Baldor Electric and was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the United States Army. The things he enjoyed most in his life was growing his tomato garden and his grandchildren whom he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister and 9 brothers. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Thelma Trimm Whaley of Columbus, daughters, Cindy Whaley of Branson, MO, Paula Speed and her husband Jack of Amory, MS, and Amanda O'Bryant and her husband Kevin of Columbus, MS, brothers, Rev. Tommy Whaley of Amory, MS, Lee Wayne Whaley of Millport, AL, and Shirley Whaley of Vernon, AL, grandchildren, Anthony Whaley, Sr., Abby Grace O'Bryant, Philip O'Bryant, Hannah Britt, Hunter Britt, Aubrey Poole, and Kristen Lewis, and great grandchildren, Anthony "Paul" Whaley, Jr. and Carah Whaley. Pallbearers will be Reese James, Kenny Hunt, Bobby Bolton, Mike Hanson, Bubba Britt, Albert Richardson, and Tony Mulligan. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Tubbs, Tracy Wright, and the men of Murrah's Chapel Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Murrah's Chapel Baptist Church Childrens Mission, P.O.
