Mrs. Ila Wave Lane Conti, age 93, of Columbus, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital " Golden Triangle. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, May 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Robert Dore, Celebrant and Father Paul Stewart, Jr., Homilist. Visitation in the church atrium will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The daughter of the late Charles H. and Callie Nighswonger Lane, Mrs. Conti was born October 10, 1920 in Kilbourne, IL. She married her husband, Gino O. Conti, on April 12, 1942 and enthusiastically embraced her new role as a military spouse, supporting her husband as he was promoted up the ladder of the enlisted airman to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, USAF. She was very active in that role at CAFB, where she was a member of the Catholic parish and attended the Base Chapel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Bernard Lane and her son Daryl M. Conti. She is survived by her husband Gino O. Conti, and four granddaughters and their families. Pallbearers will be members of the W.H. Jolly Council #7974, Knights of Columbus. Memorials may be made to the Friends of Annunciation Catholic Church, 823 College St., Columbus, MS 39701 or the Columbus AFB Chapel, 464 Harpe Blvd., Columbus AFB, MS 39710 for the Catholic Parish.
