Alma Foster Taylor, age 99, of Steens, MS, passed away December 26, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be Friday, December 28, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Bryant Benton officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Center Hill Cemetery in Hamilton, MS. Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Taylor was born January 2, 1913, in Bratt, FL, to the late Thomas and Maggie McGee Foster. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Steens, MS, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Taylor loved gardening and flowers, and enjoyed quilting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Taylor, and sons, Eugene, Donald, and Leon Taylor. Survivors include her son, Jimmie Taylor and his wife Martha, of Caledonia, MS, 8 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Laymon Alexander, Mitchell Thornton, Warren Conner, Wenndale Malone, Randy Junkin, John Beasley, Lee Younger, and James Baswell. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of First Baptist Church of Steens, MS. Memorials may be made to Legacy Hospice of the South, 1085 Stark Rd. Suite F, Starkville, MS 39759.
