Ernest Adrian Sanders, age 79, of Steens, MS, passed away October 20, 2013, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 10:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Keith Wilson officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Lone Oak Cemetery in Steens with no graveside services. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 23, 2013, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Sanders was born September 25, 1934, in Steens, MS, to the late Earnest and Irene Vaughn Sanders. He was a 1953 graduate of Caledonia High School and a 1961 graduate of Mississippi State University. Mr. Sanders served in the Army Airborne Division and worked for over 30 years with the Army Air Force Exchange Services. He was a member of the Lone Oak Church of Christ and served as Elder for over 20 years. Mr. Sanders worked as a funeral assistant at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home for a number of years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Alston Sanders, sister, Louise Vaughn Logan, and an infant granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Lorine Wilson Sanders of Steens, MS, sons, Ricky Sanders and his wife Vonda of Steens, MS, and Randy Sanders and his wife Lori of Madison, MS, brother, Bob Sanders of Steens, MS, sister, Floy J. York of AR, grandchildren, Angelia Collins and her husband Steven of Steens, MS, Madeline Sanders of Steens, MS, and Taylor Sanders of Madison, MS, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Keith Mitchell, Brent Mitchell, Brad Mitchell, Steven Collins, Taylor Sanders, Ryan Unruh, and Spencer Unruh. Honorary pallbeaers will be Ralph Logan, Hank Vaughn, Don Brewer, Bill McCusker, Jim Wiser, men of Lone Oak Church of Christ, and the staff of Gunter & Peel Funeral Home.
