William Charles Peel III, 51, of Columbus formerly of Greenwood died Friday, December 20, 2013 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Services will be at 3p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Rusty Douglas. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 1p.m. to 3p.m. at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Billy was born in Greenwood, MS November 21, 1962, he was a 1980 graduate of Pillow Academy and graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation he moved to Columbus, MS and joined his grandfather, Hollis Knight, in business, Gunter & Peel Funeral Home, along with his brother Hollis Peel. From an early age Billy enjoyed music and began learning different instruments. He played keyboards with several bands and was especially proficient on the Hammond Organ. He also played the organ for his church, Columbus Christian Center. Billy loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman, he was a former member of the Columbus Lions Club and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity at Mississippi State University. Billy is survived by his wife Tina Hays Peel of Columbus, MS, son William Charles Peel IV of Greenwood, a daughter Holley Holman Peel of Greenwood and granddaughter Charlie Grayson Peel of Greenwood. He is also survived by his parents Margaret and Charles Peel of Greenwood, brother Hollis K. Peel and his wife Leslie of Columbus and sister Laura P. Phillips and her husband Jack of Columbus. Step-children Christie Bishop and husband Michael of Gore Springs, MS, Misty Ann Cain and husband Chris of Durant, MS and step granddaughter Madison Bishop of Gore Springs, MS. Pallbearers will be Jim Cole, Michael Brumfield, Toby Lott, Scott Pridmore, Jeff Crick, Dr. Henry Flautt, Danny Walker, Tony Antoon, J.W. King, Jr., J.W. King III, Hal Shaw and David Ikard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. John Lucas III, and Dr. Guangzhi Qu. The family ask that any memorials be made to The Pines Rehabilitation Center, 1011 Main Street, Columbus, MS 39701 or a favorite charity.
