OUIDA FLOWERS Ouida Eloise Smithson Flowers, age 83, of Columbus, MS, passed away June 12, 2011, at her residence. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at 10:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Armon McDill officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Sullivan Cemetery in Monroe County, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, 2011, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Flowers was born October 12, 1927, in Monroe County, MS, to the late Cyrus and Lorena Hester Smithson. She was a former member of the former Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Flowers was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lee Flowers, brother, Fred Smithson, and sisters, Rebie Flynn, Laura Sutton, Leive Sanders, and Mary Hicks. Survivors include her son, Bruce Flowers and his wife Joyce of Columbus, MS, daughter, Lori Korehi and her husband Moe of VA, sister, Doris Evelyn Parks of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Brigett Flowers of Caledonia, MS, Patrisa Cook of Columbus, MS, Shane Flowers of Columbus, MS, Daniel Sorrells of Columbus, MS, Samantha Maddox of Columbus, MS, Ali Korehi of VA, and Amir Korehi of VA, 13 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Daniel Sorrells, Tony Baugh, Todd Parks, Tyler Parks, and Joe Jones.
