NANCY GUERRY Nancy Marie Guerry, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, died Monday, January 10, 2011, at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center with her close friend and neighbor, Brenda Follis-Lengyel, by her side when she passed from this life to the next. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 3:00 PM at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Okalona, MS, with Rev. James Black officiating. The visitation will also be Thursday, January 13, 2011, from noon until 1:30 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Nancy, who was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Newton Dunn and Marie Judd Guerry, Jr., and sister, Virginia G. Hinton, is survived by nine first cousins and a very large extended family. Being the daughter of a Methodist minister, Nancy grew accustomed to moves and starting new adventures at each of her father's new appointments. Nancy was an avid reader and excelled in education graduating from Charleston, MS, High School in 1951 and earning a degree from Mississippi State University in 1954. It was at this time that she decided to venture out on her own, leaving Mississippi to begin a long and distinguished career as a civil servant with the United States Air Force. Nancy accepted a position at Eglin Air Force Base and served a life long career as a well respected medical lab technician. Nancy retired in Fort Walton Beach , FL, with her cats that she considered her children. Although having no children of her own, she gave freely to whom ever was in need. Nancy's legacy is expressed in her generosity, a God given gift shared by all her extended family and friends. Her love and kindness will be missed by all. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity or to the donor's local library
