CARRIE HOOD - Carrie Leona Spencer Hood, age 86, of Pickensville, AL, formerly of Columbus, MS, died February 16, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Friday, February 19, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Dennis Holliman officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The visitation will also be Friday, February 19, 2010, from 9:30 AM until service time at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Hood was born November 29, 1923, in Tuscaloosa County, AL, to the late Perry and Sallie Oswalt Spencer. She was retired from United Technologies and enjoyed bowling in the senior league, clogging, and camping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Cego, Joe, and Artie Spencer, and sisters, Verona Henderson and Yvonne Hollis. Surviviors include her sons, Harold Hood (Margaret) of Columbus, MS, Micheael Hood (Barbara) of Pickensville, AL, and Wendell Hood (Geneva) of Pensacola, FL, daughter, June Brewer (Joe) of Northport, AL, sisters, Eloise Holliman and Clauson Chism, both of Columbus, MS, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Steven Brewer, Brett Hood, Steven Knight, Ray Goins, Kyler Goins, and John Dorroh.
