Ozell Nickoles Cook Shelton, age 73, of Columbus, MS, passed away June 16, 2013, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. John Sweeney officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Shelton was born November 11, 1939, in Columbus, MS, to the late Ervin and Rose Lee Phelps Nickols. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include her sons, Howard Cook of Columbus, MS, Gary Cook and his wife June Elizabeth of Columbus, MS, and Paul Cook and his wife Renee of Caledonia, MS, daughter, Joyce Johnson and her husband Steve of Thaxton, MS, brothers, Bobby Nickoles of IN, Charles Nickoles of Columbus, MS, John Wayne Grammer of Columbus, MS, Donny Grammer of Ellisville, MS, Kenny Phelps of Columbus, MS, and David Phelps of Caledonia, MS, sister, Mary Frances Holiday of Columbus, MS, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Shaun Cook, Paul Cook, II, Howard Cook, II, Justin Dunlap, Randy Butler, and Jeremy Phelps.
