Vivian Marguerite Jones Long, age 97, of Columbus, MS, passed away January 20, 2013, at Windsor Place. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 22, 2013, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. A funeral service will also be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in the Hill Creek, AR, community, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Ray Funeral Home of Cleveland, MS, will be in charge of the arrangements in Hill Creek, AR. Mrs. Long was born March 3, 1915, in Plummerville, AR, to the late David and Winnie Pearl Hawkins Jones. She worked as a telephone operator for a number of years and was a member of the Linn, MS, Baptist Church for 20 years until 1983. Mrs. Long was a member of the Hollandale Baptist Church until 2000, then was a current member of Fairview Baptist Church of Columbus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Dee Long. Survivors include her sons, Larry Long and his wife Sue of Columbus, MS, and Jay Long and his wife Linda of London, AR, daughter, Sharon Brunson and her husband Mike of Birmingham, AL, brother, Leon Jones and his wife Delores of Blytheville, AR, sister, Martha Black and her husband, Bill of Hot Springs, AR, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Joe Mallett, Jerry Dunlap, David Dunlap, Charley Dunlap, Emery Francis, Schuyler Long, Jr. Potter, and Gabriel Long. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Chapman and Randy Dunlap.
