Lewie Harris Brewer, age 81, of Columbus, MS, passed away July 8, 2013, at Windsor Place. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 11, 2013, at 3:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. James Black officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 8, 2013, one hour prior to the service at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Brewer was born September 13, 1931, in Webster County, MS, to the late William Curtis and Ollie Lee Lewis Brewer. He worked the majority of his life as a plumber in the constrction business and was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Jones Lavender. Survivors inlcude his wife, Helen Graves Brewer of Columbus, MS, daughter, Susan Halechko and her husband John of Columbus, MS, sister, Leflora Palmer of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Dusty Jones, Chris Jones, Nikki O'Brian, and Erika Andrews, great grandchildren, Luke O'Brian, Lane O'Brian, Easton Andrews, Collin Andrews, Kendall Andrews, Enzo Jones, and Dylan Jones, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Phil Brewer, Dale Brewer, Patrick Gard, Mel Brewer, David Brewer, and Brian Palmer. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Younger, Ronnie Colburn, Kevin Cockrell, Dr. Doyle Sumrall, and the certified nurse assistants of Phillwood Suites at Windsor Place.
