B. A. WEBB - B. A. Webb, age 85, of Columbus, MS, died February 21 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Ron Delgado officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens with military honors. The visitation will also be Wednesday, February 24, 2010, from noon until service time at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Webb was born December 28, 1924, in Howa, OK, to the late Bailey A. and Elsie Roberson Webb. He was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Air Corp as a B-17 tail gunner. He was stationed at the 8th Air Force in Knettishall, England and was one of 450 in the 388th Bomb Group. He completed 35 missions over Northern France and Germany and he was one of the 200 that survived. "When you go home" "Tell them of us, and say" "For you tomorrow" "We have our today" Mr. Webb retired from American Bosch / United Technologies and attended Evangel Church of Columbus, MS. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lorraine "Bill" Frye of Tuscaloosa, AL, Polly Parker of Vernon, AL, and Marie Forester of Columbus, MS. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Imogene Webb of Columbus, MS, daughters, Vickey Evans of Columbus, MS, Doris "Sam" Bales (John) of West Point, MS, and Belinda Taylor (Troy) of Kennewich, WA, son, Ron Webb of Seattle, WA, brother, Charles K. Webb (Judy) of Destin, FL, 8 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kevin Evans, Reese James, Gordon Bomar, and Bobby Suggs. Honorary pallbearers will be the surviving crew of the B-17 La-Dee-Doo, pilot Laureen Porter, and co-pilot, Jim O'Connor.
