SHIRLEY HAYES Shirley Burchfield Hayes, age 74, of Crawford, MS, passed away March 6, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Billy Wayne Whatley officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be shared with her husband, John Howard Hayes, who passed away March 3, 2013. Mrs. Hayes was born October 28, 1938, in Minter City, MS, to the late Jessie Lee and Lillian Hood Burchfield. She worked for many years at Seminole Manufacturing and retired from the Texaco Station in Brooksville, MS. Mrs. Hayes was a member of the East Columbus Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Howard Hayes. Survivors include her daughters, Anita Ming of Columbus, MS, Diane Jones of Tupelo, MS, and Lisa Moore of Columbus, MS, brothers, James Olen Burchfield of Dallas, GA, and George Burchfield of Columbus, MS, sister, Cora Watt of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Daryl Ming, Jamie Lowery, Dusty Ming, Jennifer Ming, Jessica Street, Terence Moore, Christopher Moore, Summer Fields, and Chase Fields, and nine great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dennis Ming, Terry Moore, George Burchfield, Jr., and Jay Burchfield.
