MARVIN CREEKMORE

Marvin Dewayne Creekmore, age 86, of Steens, MS, passed away April 13,
2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Graveside services
will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 , at Lynville Methodist Church Cemetery
near Preston, MS, with military honors and Rev. Ron McDougald officiating.Visitation will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014 , from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at
Gunter & Peel Funeral Home.
Mr. Creekmore was born April 10, 1928, in Preston, MS, to the late
Thomas H. and Parlee Malone Creekmore, Sr. He was retired from the United
States Air Force after 30 years having served in Vietnam and Korea as Chief
Master Seargent. After his military career, he worked as a security guard
for Kerr McGee for 14 years. Mr. Creekmore attended the Caledonia United
Methodist Church and was a master mason. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his brothers, Champ Creekmore, Virgil Creekmore, Guy
Creekmore, Bill Creekmore and Arthur Creekmore, and sisters, Nettie Luke,
Flora Mae Nester, Evelyn Key, Gertrude Weaver, Myrtle Key, and Delmer Hamby.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ruby Johnson Creekmore of
Steens, MS, daughter, Brenda Creekmore Austin and her husband Chuck of
Tunica, MS, brother, Thomas H. Creekmore, Jr. of Ocean Springs, MS, sister,
Mabel Peden of Mobile, AL, grandchildren, Dr. Adrian Austin and his wife Dr.
Natalie Austin of Durham, NC, and Stephen Austin and his wife Nikki of
Starkville, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Caledonia United Methodist
Church.
