She was a graduate of Brookhaven High School and attended Draughon Business College in Jackson, MS. During summer trips to Lowndes County visiting her Hodges cousins, she met her future husband, Robert Marcus Browning. She worked at the Lowndes County Health Department and then Mitchell Engineering, later CECO for many years. Mrs. Edith was an active member of First Baptist Church of Columbus where she worked many years in the nursery department, taking care of the Creepers and sang in the adult sancturay choir. She had a great love for missions and devoted many hours to the work and support of the women mission organizations of First Baptist. Mrs. Edith was a faithful volunteer in numerous areas of the church ministry. Family members, co-workers and friends were recipients of her kindness through the many cards she sent on all occasions. The cards always gave hope and encouragement and brought a smile upon the face of the receiver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and brother, Burton Trimble, Jr. Survivors include her niece, Janet (Bobby) T. Nelson, nephew, Gary (Gwen) Trimble, sister-in-law, Dorothy Trimble, all of Vicksburg, MS, and several cousins including primary care giver Dot Hodges. Following Robert's death in 1956, Edith maintained a close relationship with his family and is survived by two sisters-in-law, Bettye (Robert Lee) Loftis of Caledonia, MS, and Elizabeth Browning of Canton, GA. Other nieces and nephews to cherish the memory of Aunt Edith are Olivia (David) Sansing, Richard (Deborah) Junkin, Terry Loftis, Nancy Lenore Junkin, Lynn (David) Satterfield, Bobby Loftis, Robin (Roger) Minton, Allan (Dee) Browning, and Renee (Jim) Spinks. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby and Nell Sanford's Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, and past and present employees of CECO.
