George Earnest Burchfield, Sr. age 68, died June 19, 2014 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. Graveside service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Danny Avery officiating. Visitation will be 1-3 pm Sunday June 22, 2014 at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Burchfield was born June 4, 1946 in Minter City, MS to the late Jessie Lee and Lillian J. Hood Burchfield. He worked for Greenline Equipment for many years and then he and his wife Reta were a husband/wife over the road truck driving team. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Lynn Johnson and his sister, Shirley B. Hayes. George is survived by his wife of 49 years Reta Burchfield of Columbus, MS; sons, George Burchfield, Jr. "Denise" of Columbus, MS and Jay Burchfield "Heather" of Columbus, MS; brother, James Burchfield "Kathy" of Dallas, GA; sister, Cora M. Watt "Howard" of Columbus, MS; grandchildren, Ridge Blackburn, Scott Johnson, Conner Burchfield, Jordan Johnson, Lexie Burchfield, Mattie Grace Burchfield, and Mallory Kate Burchfield; great grandchildren, Hayden Boyle and Peyton Martin; and his beloved dogs, Trucker, Bullett and Scooter. Pallbearers will be John Bennett, Jimmy Atkins, Conner Burchfield, Chris Moore, Mose Scott, Mike Davis, Billy Atkins, Jimmy Atkins, and Terrance Moore. Honorary pallbeares will be Brad Burchfield, Kevin Burchfield, Ricky Day and Rivers Dickerson.
