MAE OSWALT GREEN - Allie Mae Oswalt Green, age 85, of Columbus, MS, died October 7, 2009 at Trinity Healthcare. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Ray Crane officiating and Gunter & Peel Funeral Home directing. The interment will immediately follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2009, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Green was born January 28, 1924 in Fayette County, AL to the late Grover Cleveland and Ardelia Fowler Oswalt. She was a 1942 graduate of New Hope High School and retired from United Technologies after 35 years. Mrs. Green was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a member of the Nancy Vaughn Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Woodfin Green, son, Tony Green, and brothers, Truman Oswalt, A. M. Oswalt, and Festus Oswalt. Survivors include her son, Jerry Wayne Green (Joyce) of Columbus, daughter, Bertha G. Lockhart (Bill) of Columbus, sisters, Julia Bell Register of Pearson, GA, and Christine Flye (Wayne) of Columbus, grandchildren, Randy Lockhart (Cindy) of Starkville, MS, Rusty Lockhart (Tammi) of Clinton, MS, Christie Norwood (Hank) of Columbus, MS, and Jennifer Elmore (Bryan) of Tuscaloosa, AL, and great grandchildren, Will, Jake, Seth, and Luke Lockhart, Hayslie, Ethan, and Dalton Elmore, and Parker Norwood. Pallbearers will be Dale Brewer, Joe Ables, Paul Lockhart, Danny Flye, Alvin Porter, and Trenton Sheffield. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Elmore, Hank Norwood, John Oswalt, and Hobby Oswalt.
